Il suono del xone db4 è di qualità decisamente elevata, a paragone con il Denon dnx1700 è leggermente meno saturo ma più morbido, con un po' meno spinta ma con una più piacevole diffusione delle basse frequenze, sicuramente più coinvolgente anche se meno brillante dei mixer Pioneer digitali. Rispetto invece alla serie xone analogica o agli Ecler serie Nuo si sente ancora il limite di questa categoria di prodotti che inevitabilmente ha un range di frequenza leggermente più ridotto e una dinamica più piatta, ma si deve ammettere che nel panorama dei mixer digitali attuali il db4 si distingue per il timbro sonoro completo e pulito, Allen&Heath ha posto come sempre molta attenzione alla cura della qualità audio.
