OMAGGIO A JIMI HENDRIX A 40 ANNI DALLA MORTE. Louis Ciavarella
He had 68 years if he were alive today, Jimi Hendrix. If during that bloody night of September 18, 1970 had not been the victim of his own vomit after taking andatogli across the night before a lethal cocktail of drugs (Vesparax pills, tranquilizers) and alcohol in a hotel room Samarkand, north of London. With him in that fateful night, there was only Monika Dannemann, German girlfriend who tried to get help as soon as he realized che Jimi stava morendo per soffocamento.
L’album entitled "First Rays Of The New Rising Sun", a title well-wishing and probably can be considered as the closest to the will of the artist. Jimi Hendrix albums, however, will never see.
Jimi Hendrix was born in Seattle, in the northwest of the USA, in 1942 by African American father and a mother of Indian origin, had learned to play guitar and was immediately introduced into the channels of American blues rock as the vocalist for songwriter such as Little Richard, King Curtis, Ike & Tina Turner, etc ... at the time, between the end of '50 and early 60s, very famous. Then Chas Chandler came in search of new talent da portare in Inghilterra e fu la sua fortuna.
The first album came shortly after the release of new singles (All vinyl collection published first in "Smash Hits" and then placed in a queue to digital reissue of the first album), in 1967, on behalf of Track Records, ' epochal "Are You Experienced? "As saying the final scream of rock and its visionary conception of music in relationship to time, the disc hinge projecting rock music to unexplored worlds and makes the blues and psychedelic, for various reasons but complementary to its draft Universal Music, matter which required plasma Jimi their winning idea of rock. Nothing will ever be. Are You Experience relentlessly divides the time of the rock in two parts: an era of primitive, chaotic, anarchic kind of a 'modern era, the transition takes place to the tune of Purple Haze, Foxy Lady, The Wind Cries Mary, I Don' t Live Today, Fire, etc. ... essential eleven tracks that push forward the destiny of the rock. Eleven of the universal heritage of classical music setting the signs of an era in world history, which ignores the nature of the rock and entered the legitimacy of law in the universal language of music alongside the classics of all time as Beethoven, Mozart and Miles Davis.
Infine, nel 1968, Jimi Hendrix pubblica l’opera sublime “ Electric Ladyland “, doppio album dalla copertina subito censurata ( che raffigura un gruppo di donne nude che occupa across the entire front of the cover) for the U.S. market and replaced by a more conventional photos. The album has a gestation suffered because of some health problems for some of Hendrix and intolerance have arisen between the members of the group, although the staff had been reinforced by Chas Chandler of important musicians like Steve Winwood, Al Kooper and Jack Casady, which will be the crucial backbone of the entire project. The work has its own charm, visionary, sometimes exotic, but always drawn by Hendrix in a continuity with the past here favoring a more powerful and modern thought-especially in songs like Voodoo Chile, Crosstown Traffic and Dylan All Along The Watchtower, superb version chills.
The official discography of Hendrix, that he will know in life, ending with a live album, "Band Of Gypsys" (1969), a work that foreshadows the transition to a new landing music. Recorded during several concerts held at the Fillmore East in New York without the Experience, the album contains six new pieces performed by musicians Billy Cox on bass and Buddy Miles on drums, all aiming at sound more black and however much more complex than the past. Evenings will be published in 1999 a more complete version containing two CDs (Live At Fillmore East, MCA Rec.) The consecration of the character was
in Monterey, California, fresh back from the pomp in English soil, in June 1967 before a crowd amazing. Hendrix, by Brian Jones of the Rolling Stones, big fan of his, exhibited an extraordinary performance, a virgin territory for him. The success opened the doors of international reputation allowing him to play concerts in every part of Europe and America, including Italy.
Jimi Hendrix played in Italy May 25, 1968 at the Teatro Brancaccio in Rome. From the evidence we collect some vintage episodes dominated by the malfunctioning of the amplifiers, they did Jimi angry, both Rome and in Bologna the next day, where he held another concert divided into two sets, without that prevented him from carrying out its a brilliant performance. The next day she performed at the indoor stadium of Bologna (Titan Top Show) in two sets, afternoon and evening. The concert in Bologna, there is evidence of good quality sound as well as enthusiastic accounts of the evening appeared on the web. Another concert held him in those days at the Piper in Milan, bringing to three the city that hosted concerts by Jimi Hendrix in Italy. After Monterey
followed Woodstock, whose contribution was not very noticeable and then performed the Isle of Wight, in August 1970, by which England was missing for over a year, on the eve of his death. The concert was a great profile of Wight, perhaps stimulated the heat of the large audience, and although the organization was not flawless, Jimi Hendrix gave a performance of great quality, then immortalized on the double CD Blue Wild Angel (U.S. MCA Rec 2002).
Many other concerts in every part of Europe 's lead and America in places with names familiar to us as the Winterland S. Francisco, the San Diego Sports Arena, the Music Club of Cleveland, the aforementioned Fillmore East in New York, 'Inglewood Forum in Los Angeles, the Capitol Theatre in Ottawa (Canada), etc ... remain the city's main strip of Pop Randall's Island festivals (New York 1970) and The Baggy's Rehearsal Sessions (a superb evening with Cox e Miles a NYC nel 1969 ), e sugli stessi luoghi da menzionare le performance inconcludenti con Jim Morrison e Johnny Winter o gli stage con maestri come BB King o i famosi Basement Tapes improvvisati con Steve Stills di cui esistono sbiadite testimonianze su cd ; tenuti in considerazione e pubblicati in pompa magna le famose performance presso il Royal Albert Hall di Londra del febbraio 1969 ( 2 cd resi ufficiali nel 2001 ), Live At Barkeley, ( MCA 2003 ) evento accaduto nel 1970, poi Rainbow Bridge, nelle isole Haway, un abortito film sulla sua vita e di cui restano tracce della colonna sonora ; il Two Days At Newport, una buona due giorni in musica avvenuta nel giugno del 1969 e i tantissimi concerti tenuti nell’anno 1967, ad inizio carriera, nei teatri and arenas in Europe. In this sense there are good bands concerts memorable celebration in Paris (Olympia), Stockholm (Grona Lund), Oslo, Gotenberg, etc ... Experience with the more naive in style, without forgetting the quotation of two temples of rock which was Hendrix frequent visitor: the Flamingo Club in London and New York scenes, in addition to super events cited Woodstock, Wight and Monterey who remain the most important stages of his life on the road, until the final concert, as I said earlier , which took the island of Fehmarn in Germany Sept. 6, 1970. The last concert of Jimi Hendrix taking on this earth.
"The history of life / is more rapid / A blink of an eye / The story of a love / and hello and goodbye / until we meet again / "are the last words written by Jimi Hendrix that night at Samarkand.
CONCLUSIONS
discs were reissued Jimi Hendrix so you should always buy the latest editions. In this sense shows the versions published this year by Sony's recent issue on newsstands or by the group L'Espresso, which also contains an extensive catalog attached to the disk.
addition to the discography, the one that is cited in the article, there are live albums or collections of songs posthumously assembled officially. Among the live album are strongly recommended: Jimi Plays Monterey, At Fillmore East and The Wild Blue Angel_Live at Isle Of Wight, all in beautiful editions published by the MCA RECORDS. Among the posthumous albums but there are several titles but I think the last frontier of discovery Hendrix is "Valleys of Neptune, whose review can be found in space Music Art of this website, and can be considered a good buy.
For fans who want to have all or most of Hendrix, then you can tune in on the fan club that there are only several thousand in Italy. In those places you will find gems of rare beauty and precious artifacts that speak of concerts and events also irrelevant happens on the stage of half of Europe (Italy included) and the U.S., in the order of several hundreds of bootlegs from the sometimes very questionable quality.
about the books I think the issues Arcana / Couplings have to catalog a large number of titles on the life and recordings of Hendrix.
